I am very appreciative of the support from Empire State College of SUNY (my "home" institution since 1972), especially my sabbatical leave in 2007-08.  Deans Bob Clougherty and Carol Batker and my wonderful faculty colleagues in the Master of Arts in Teaching program at Empire State provided encouragement and support. Columbia Teachers College and the Math, Science and Technology Department (O. Roger Anderson, Chair) were cordial hosts during and after my sabbatical. David Mortimer, Joaquin Ramsey, Roger Richardson, Heather Rave, Phillip Stewart, Pavithra Sundar and others (graduate students who enjoyed, tolerated and/or suffered through my physics course at Teachers College) contributed in many ways. The students and teaching assistants at Purchase College of SUNY (especially Sam Sowyrda and Alexander Mengaziol) also were very helpful over the four semesters (2005-07) that I taught there.
